Cue the Tosca.
I managed to get to the grocer today, but not before my stomach got the better of me.
So a can of chilies and tomatoes, a single packet of Taco Bell “Fire” sauce (I’m out of seasoning and seasonings aren’t in the budget until business picks up), some chili powder, and a handful of sweet frozen corn go into my good skillet—it’s almost taco meat. As I let that slow-cook, my dad shows up, and I get to the store. This $70 worth of food that I grabbed will probably feed me until the middle of next week—until next payday if I eat lightly and chase things with a multi at every meal.
Back to the skillet: half-pound of sausage, some veggies, corn, bit of bootlegged seasoning. Tortillas from the bargain section of the grocery fridge section (an expense I would rather not have made, but I can’t seem to find the masa I bought). Together, with a bit of cheese and some lettuce and onions, I almost have tacos. At any rate, they taste pretty damned good.
I feel better than I did yesterday. My head’s still doing that stupid thing it does when a migraine isn’t quite gone, but it’s going away. Another day of taking it easy
The bad news: it’s still the slow season.
The good news: I’m looking at an increase in my food budget now. So next month I can eat AND have my medicine. =D
…I just noticed the name of the tune that’s actually playing on my playlist. I think they’re right.
EDIT!!! SOMETHING got past my software shields. JEANNIE IS DOWN.
Looks like a night of computer repairs in my future...
Revenge of edit—my phone power key died, adding insult to injury. Now instead of the concert tickets that I'd planned on I’ll instead be replacing my phone.
YOU GOT ANYTHING ELSE, FATE?
