Katerin doesn’t say anything but it’s obvious that she more than wants to. Instead she wraps the dried off baby girl in a blanket and gently places her into Terra’s open arms. “Congratulations.” She quietly exits to give them some privacy. The orphans excited chattering can be heard from behind the door.
The baby begins squawking again and this time Terra is able to see to it, immediately rocking it in her arms and kissing its forehead. “Shh, shh, it’s okay…” she coos, already at ease. “Mama’s here.”
It whimpers and squeaks for a bit before settling down, squirming in its blanket. The tail pops out, not properly swaddled but Terra catches it with two fingers. It’s almost as thin as curtain cord and so short…
