Jul. 24th, 2008 10:55 pmThe other day, I decided that it would be cheaper to buy a bunch of stuff to cook all at once than it would be to just buy fast food when I was out of the house. As I was at the store, I noticed something that wasn't there the last time I bought comestibles. There, in the seafood rack, were two very fresh appearing swordfish steaks. Even though the price was a little shocking (eight bucks for twelve ounces), I grabbed them and made a beeline for the house.
The next thing that I did was to grab the cookbook and see what it said about swordfish. …Nothing.
Yeah. Once again I was cooking blind. I read the back of the package for ideas…and all I had was the spices.
So I throw crap into a skillet with the fish and steam some rice. Mostly garlic, some onions, spices, and a pat of butter, into a small covered skillet with some water in it for poaching. When in doubt, if it's a fish steak, you can prolly poach it with no problem. (Proportions: two cloves fresh garlic, dash lemon pepper, two dashes Mrs Dash Garlic blend, dash garlic powder {yes I like garlic}, pat of butter, dash of oregano, dash of basil, dash of rosemary, poached for fifteen minutes on med-hi.)
It was delicious. Especially with jasmine rice. ^_^
