You can tell I'm a good FFIX fan when I completely forget its anniversary. I really must be married to it!
I can't believe it's been 14 years. In the back of my mind it's still only the other day I first saw it. Wow....I just realized it's been over 14 years since I first heard of FF...... I still think of it as the last part of my childhood and in a way I really did grow up with the series...
Thing I remember most is reading the strategy guide whilst listening to the MIDI tracks (as I'd yet to find a copy of the game) and being taken aback by the sublime imagination involved. There was such a rich world of illusion and I remember just daydreaming about PLAYING the game and witnessing that world for myself. I think we all have a work that enchants in such a way it helps shape who we are to some degree whether its in our creativity or our choices in life and for me that's what FFIX was. So much of my growth as a writer and artist was thanks to that game - I used to transcribe it, sketch the scenes out, try my very first attempts at fic with it... it's impossible to think of my life without this game, it's just that important.
Thank you, FFIX, for more than I can possibly say.
