One Day til my b-day: in which I am totally off-topic

And wouldn’t you know it that I got double shifted for the first time in a week today? I wasn’t ready for it…I was doing either one or the other lately, and so when I did them both today, I got unexpectedly exhausted from all the working. It didn’t help that I got in to the second half of said shift without prior planning on working it. It was a kind of stop-gap measure, since there weren’t enough housekeepers to do it all for vague I-don’t-feel-like-disclosing-it reason. So, despite the fact that my knee was hurting like a bitch and my feet were starting to join in the chorus, I agreed to do it today. Hey, it mean that today I got seven hours.

 

 

That’s right. Seven hours of standing around mostly, with the occasional bit of bending down to make a bed, clean a floor, clean a tub, fix a short in a vacuum wire…the list goes on. *splat!*

After I got off of work today I had to buy a flash drive. While I was at the local OfficeMax store I also checked out the wireless cards that were on display. Holy crap, I wasn’t aware of how complicated that they get at times. I wasn’t thinking about speeds, or frequencies, or whatever-wireless tech confuses me. I haven’t had a reason to learn about wireless stuff, since until recently the only computers that I’ve owned have been desktops. Having this laptop has made things a bit more complicated on the tech side of things. I may be a computer geek, but I think it might be fairer to say that I’m a computer-application geek-I know next to nothing about hardware…but I think I might take some courses about that sooner than later. I want to know a few things about it…I’d like to know more about this stuff.

Which makes things complicated for me: I need to find a field of some sort to concentrate in. I don’t want to-I’d be more than happy to just learn about things and not have to specify a major. I’d be happiest just learning about junk, really. If there was a way to get paid to LEARN, just to learn about what-the-hell-ever I wanted to learn about at any given time…it would be so f-ing awesome. But, there doesn’t seem to be anything like that available, so I can’t do that, now can I?

I’ve started doing research on the herbs again. While the state government has put a damper on my plans, I don’t plan on stopping all of my research just because the herb that was going to be my cornerstone for the project has been Scheduled. I’ll just concentrate on the other herbs, and if by some strange twist of fate a batch happens to land in pickable range, I might be able to do something. It is highly unlikely. I’d be more likely to be randomly handed a bag of weed than a bag of salvia divinorum. It’s a shame, really. The case that got the herb banned is one of those things that, if it had happened with a major pharmaceutical drug, it would have been swept under the rug-until someone sued, anyway.

I’ve probably ranted on about that topic already, so I’ll give you guys a break. I still find it maddening, but this way you won’t find me maddening. I hope. Lol

In the fortuitous chance that I do get to research this herb, I will make sure to take copious amounts of notes on the experience, since I’m pretty sure that I won’t be able to repeat it. At least I’ve built a body of herbs large enough that I won’t be short for one herb. I’ve already considered what I will do about that, and so soon enough I will be frequenting a few more forums with like minded trippers to plan this thing. If I can, I might be able to get this published somewhere. It’ll kinda be a weird sort of thing.
