Writing Challenge: Flash Fiction

Flash Fiction Challenge:  Present Tense.
Challenge found on  Chuck Wendig's Terribleminds blog.  *Check it out.  It's pretty cool.*

Rules:  Write a flash fiction of 1000 words or less, in the present tense.  This is the only hard and fast rule.

Karma

Genre:  Not sure what to call this.  Horror?  Snuff?  It's effed up.  Pretty bare, but this is a flash fiction challenge.
Warnings for:  Violent imagery, creep factor, stuff blowing up.  Not particularly graphic per se, but it's definitely not sweetness and light.
Word Count: 578.
It's the first idea that popped into my head.  Apparently sometimes my head can be a screwed-up place.

MY GOODNESS MY HEAD CAN BE AN EFFING SCARY PLACE. )

*_*_*

Written entirely in OmmWriter to remove distractions.  Wholly unedited.

Rambling a little bit: Writing, Tarot, and a Challenge.

Not expecting to do much today, I walked into algebra class, found out that I got a ninety percent on the latest quiz, and took the opportunity to wait for the rest of the class to query about questions that they missed. (The one I missed happened to be a purely miscopy error, and I facepalmed appropriately.) As I waited for this I did some writing.

I’m so far about three more pages into the script that I’ve been working on in the last three hours. (In my defense of the sluggish pace, I’m doing algebra work at the same time, using lulls between solves where I was ahead to do some of it.) While I work on it the scenes that have been bothering me have started to slowly fall into place the way that they need to.

I purchased my new deck of tarot cards the other day. I will be using these during a project that I do during NaNoWriMo. I’ve already selected one to use as a theme, but a card from a deck different from the one that the project in question will be using. I’m going to aim for at least one card prompt finished a week. I’ve done this kind of project before, I know, and not had the chance to do as much as I would like with it. This time, however, the gloves are off. If I’m ever going to do this seriously, then I need to seriously buckle down. And that means that there are other things that I am simply going to have to sacrifice to do this. Mark my words…

I’ve made a bet with myself not to slash anything (that means ANY pairing fiction!) for a week.
I realize that I’m probably fucked on that regard…but I figure if I avoid actually developing any of it I might—and I mean might—have a chance.

…hah, who am I kidding? I’m borked on that front, too.

Writing~

I've been doing a little bit more writing than before.  Today, I actually did a haiku. (I'll post a link later, when I'm not running 20 tabs, a radio, a scan, and MS Word at the same time.  The horror!)

The point is, I'm making sure that I have gotten into the rhythm of doing at least one thing a day before November starts.

As you probably already know, November is NaNoWriMo; that's a lot of words to try to get done in a short amount of time, but to make sure that I can do it I'm giving myself an exercise a day to see if I can actually hold up to the challenge.

In addition to doing this, I'm also working on something on the side:  tarot card-based side stories.  They  have nothing to do with my NaNoWriMo…well, except for one, which was actually spawned from one.  The rest are totally different, though.

I start the Tarot exercise in November, too.  Keep an eye out.  I'm going to try to average one a week. ^_^

omg this is too fun!

I  just got into something of a fun challenge with [livejournal.com profile] kayrademashi and it's getting to be insane. See, we decided to see what we could do with various situations if we decided to stick one of our favorite pairings in it. We stick the pairing of Yazoo/Zack (Yes, crack central XD) into different situations, which we then take it upon ourselves to completely and utterly perve.

We've got a list, and I think we might post a few later on, because some of these are completely priceless shows of perviness.

I mean come on, she just now managed to perve a grand prix race! This is fun. I encourage everyone to try perving things with a pairing of choice. It is insanely fun.

Of rants and tree!smut.

So I had to do something. I didn’t care much what it was, but something that had to be done while I was sitting here, making no noise, and pretending I’m not here. (Kudos to ye who know this reference XD) So I get up, take a shower, get some food—manage to keep said food down without a fight, even though it’s largely meat based—and then get online to check for job leads. Nothing on that front, so I have to do something else. That is, something other than stress about whether or not I will be able to get back to campus this semester. I have to do something or else I’m going to go insane. *pulls hair out*

So I decide to work on some challenge that was issued about two hours after curfew. Yes, I said curfew. Apparently I’m supposed to be off my computer at about eight-o-clock. I was told that at around ten-thirty.

Now tell me this: What kind of sense does that make when the person in question is only at the residence for lack of a steady income? Of course, that is rapidly being worked on, but still. You don’t give someone a stone’s throw from 20 an eight-o-clock curfew. That’s insane. It’s completely insane.

OK. Maybe I should stop ranting. Meh.

Anyway, the challenge: We don’t know what happened, but somewhere along the line I got roped into a challenge on writing something strange. It comes on the heels of that first smut piece that I wrote—you remember that, with the tree!smut, right? Well, it’s gotten to the point to where some of us will write something along the same lines to see who can out-do one another. I lost the first challenge, mainly because I couldn’t quite bring myself to write full-on smut at the time. Now, however, will be another story. *manic giggling*

Also, can someone tell me how at one point I couldn’t even stand the mention of tentacle!smut and now I’ve written it and found it to be quite hot? I have no idea, myself.
