“I, Garland, WILL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN!”
…partially nodded to when Zidane knocked him down, but I still wanted to hear him say it. XD
Remember all of the dancers in FFIV? Why does no one bring this up? Team Cosmos needed some delicious scandal.
Pianos! Bartz is a PIANO MASTER. While there aren’t any surviving towns in the world of Dissidia, someone could have brought up hobbies. Even if it’d been brought up in the character bios (Like Cloud’s closet extreme-sports knowhow) that would have been nice.
On the subject of those two: there needed to be some sort of allusion to cross-dressing. Bartz had Faris—who I might add both he and Galuf were quite taken by even before realizing that Faris is actually a woman—and Cloud actually did the deed himself. Awkward lulz could ensue if this was brought up.
Opera. VI or IX, either one should have brought up more opera!
…that’s all I got. Could be more.

Date: 2011-07-15 03:17 am (UTC)Yes, crossdressing references were needed. And not just as an item set, CUTSCENE attention, dammit!
I wonder if those JP quests will have any light on these matters... Not that I can tell due to having poor translation skills and needing to level up a whole batch more characters to get there. This is how I've been playing so far:
"Hey, something-something-plain form something confident-pronoun is there!"
Actually I love how Garland being knocked down is an allusion to Zidane threatening to do the same to HIS Garland (okay it was 'take' you down but it was a threat all the same) only Thongboy got there first.
How awesome would it be if Kain's true motive for offing half of Cosmos' warriors was that they all knew too much about what happened at the King's Bounty Pub?
WELL HELL, THERE SHOULD BE MORE OPERAS! IN EVERYTHING!
Date: 2011-07-15 04:02 am (UTC)It always needs more opera. No exceptions.
And theatre is good too. Even Locke's horribad performance: "I, Locke, treasure hunter extraordinaire [WHATEVER YOU SPELL IT] will save Celes!"
Impresario: ?!
Crowd: *cheers and whistles*
It comes up about once every other game now (excepting VIII because of the one drag queen breaking the pattern) and so it really needs more spotlight. I mean, it's been a part of the series since V!
Hey, at least you've got that far: I'm too intimidated by the language to try and truck out three counties over to get to the sole college that teaches it.
This, coming from a woman who wants to learn Esperanto…
That moment…I paused the scene so I could finish laughing. It took about eight minutes, because every time I looked back at the PSP, all over again, me going "Garland just got knocked---PFFFFFFFFFFTHAHAHAAAH!"
Oh, Kain…you have too many secrets.
COME TO CLUB MARILITH, AND TAKE THEM OFF!
…wait, those are clothes…
Why did my memory card have to crash right before the second playthrough of the FFVI opera scene? D:
Date: 2011-07-15 04:15 am (UTC)Well I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take up another Japanese course (I took it for GCSE and A Level but didn't bother to study it, I just watched anime and read some non-translated manga to keep bits of it in my head) so that I can progress. Having the dictionaries and my old textbooks does help but so far I'm lucky if I can bullshit my way through two sentences with a japanese speaker. I'm getting the kanji dictionary out every once in a while and going 'Stroke? Big stroke...particle...something that looks like a mouth...AHA!!!' when I play at the moment. Oddly enough my passion to learn a certain language is usually consistent with when I get a foreign comic or book of a fandom I adore... (I have a flemish dictionary specifically to translate some Donald Duck comics I bought in Belgium. And a french one too. What can I say? I love the duck!)
Hey if you want to take it up then go for it!
Garland should avoid Genomes, they have a tendency to go into a homicidal RAEG! when someone with that name approaches them. The fact that it was the tiny little blond scrap who did it just makes it all the more hilarious.
"I have nothing to hide!"
"Oh? What's that tattoo then?"
Two words: Murphy's Law
Date: 2011-07-15 04:33 am (UTC)The options are "Sure..." and "Are you really a woman?"
As it turns out, HE'S NOT A WOMAN XD
Unless I can find a mail course or something the odds of me learning this manmade language are slim. But it's got such a nice feel to it. It's like Portuguese and Latin had an adorable fluffy kid.
Trivia: The Baha'i sect once used Esperanto in its worship.
Trivia: FFXI's hymn, Memoro de la Stono, is in Esperanto.
Yeah, Garland just seems to be a giant metal punching bag for Genomes.
—HEY, THAT WOULD BE AN AWESOME TOY FOR THE FLUFFY KIDS. One of those wobbly inflatable dolls that you hit and it gets back up by itself—DESIGNED TO LOOK LIKE GARLAND!
…that reminds me, I need to visit the Kink Meme. I have an idea.
FFFFF---I need to play VIII again!
Date: 2011-07-15 04:41 am (UTC)Darn... I wonder if there's an online course available...
*snort* That would be hilarious. You KNOCK Garland down and ocassionally the kids use too much force and he does the same to them. BEGIN FLUFFY TANTRUM!
...This is relevant to my interests.
Also after playing Dissidia and seeing Kuja freak out over Garland having the same name as his creator I am now convinced that he has a vendetta against Judy Garland. It has caused havoc with his appreciation of musical theatre FOREVER!

Date: 2011-07-15 04:34 am (UTC)The lulzy shippyness...IT IS NOT THERE! D:
Lightning: (rough translation) Don't make me laugh; who's going to sleep?

Date: 2011-07-15 04:37 am (UTC)How disappointing >< I love their snark mechanic, and if it's not there... *Sad!face*
Hopefully there's other shippy lines elsewhere...?
Well...
Date: 2011-07-15 04:44 am (UTC)Zidane: (rough translation) What's wrong, Yuna? Come on, smile! Yours is the best!
(I don't actually have his line infront of me so I'm working from memory here)
Poor Yuna remains oblivious. It's probably best that way...
Uhhhhh
Date: 2011-07-15 04:49 am (UTC)NOW LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!
Date: 2011-07-15 04:56 am (UTC)(Jecht teleports in as an assist and knocks the guy down)
Jecht: SUBLIMELY MAGNIFICENT JECHT CHASTITY DEFENCE MARK V!!!
Yuna: Thank you, Sir Jecht.
Jecht: Don't mention it, Yuna. *gives Tidus a stern look* You take better care of her, kid.
Tidus: *shakes head in confusion* What did he mean by that?
Yuna: Nothing. Say... did I ever mention that promise you made to me..?
Tidus: Huh?
Yuna: That...one day...you would put on a Moogle Suit for me...
Tidus: Okay---I really don't remember that.
Yuna: But---
Tidus: Well if you say so...
(Yuna slowly puts her hand to her mouth to hide her devious giggle)
WHAT DID I DO?!
Date: 2011-07-15 05:14 am (UTC)The results were glorious, though.
BE THERE!!!
Date: 2011-07-15 05:18 am (UTC)On the plus side...
