Sitting down to sprint. Having just recovered from a SURPRISE POWER NAP (hadn’t intended on falling asleep. It was a good thing I set an alarm) my brain’s being incredibly random. How random we talking here?

  • Just before spending the last half-hour unconscious:  Ow my leg storms.
  • Alarm goes off the first time:  Dizzy snooze button now.
  • Second time: *didn’t wake up.  Out like a light.  Dreaming of a big temple full of vaulted ceilings, bunting-draped statues, and incredibly pretty priests.  One of them was giving me a tour of the place.  The music they’re playing in this temple is pretty.*
  • Third time:  Woke up, hit snooze, fell asleep immediately afterward.  Had the exact same dream again.  This time I notice that the temple is the Grand Temple from my novel.  It doesn’t occur to me to check to see of these people are Illuminati, though.
  • Fourth time:  Finally woke COMPLETELY up.  Hit “Dismiss" after listening to what the phone had set my alarm to.  Couldn’t help but smile.  Apparently having this on a loop fixed the GR ARG RAGE I had going today.  What was the alarm tone?

This.

  • Wondering if it’s too late to get stuff from the corner store.  Wind slinging HORIZONTAL RAIN and puddles deep enough to cover my non-waterproof canvas shoes suggest yes.
  • Consider making soda.  Decide I’m feeling too lazy and mix the two half-liters I have left for something that tastes like a cross between a Red Bull and a Piña Colada

The moral?

If I want to make the stress of the day go die in a violent fire and disappear into sparkles, I’ll put Song of Memory on loop when I sleep.  That was a thirty-minute nap and I’m more rested than I was after a full night of sleep.

Secondary Moral:  Apparently this song makes me dream of temples.

EDIT:  For some reason, El Jay seems to hate Flash objects today.  Replaced the widget with a direct link.
EVERYTHING ELSE STILL STANDS THOUGH.  =D

I CANNOT LISTEN TO THIS SONG WITHOUT WEEPING. AND I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE DDFF DID NOT INCLUDE IT. (But I'll bitch about that in a meme entry.) IF IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THEATHRYTHM THEN I WILL...ER....DO SOMETHING DRASTIC!

HEY PHONE QUIT TROLLING ME

I see that my phone now consistently eats every other post.

Now that I'm breaking into disc 3 and it's become the dominant theme when SIGNIFICANT THINGS happen *Garnet's just lost her voice don't spoil things nuu* I can see why this would have been EPICALLY SIGNIFICANT as a choice.

And I'm also feeling the lack of Vamo Alla Flamenco! WANT.

SOMETHING DRASTIC?! RUN AWAY!

From: [identity profile] toffeethesnob.livejournal.com
Speaking of SIGNIFICANT THINGS happening...err...you might not want to ship Kuja/Zidane during Disc 3... (That wasn't a spoiler was it?)

It's weird that Vamo Alla Flamenco was chosen as the overhead song on the compilation of history for FFIX rather than Song of Memory, Over the Hill or The Place I'll Return to Someday. I mean I know it's a popular theme and all but it's not what you hear when you enter the world itself. Speaking of which I'm so glad that the Oeilvert theme became FFIX's second dungeon theme because of SPOILERS.

Also keep me up to date when you reach Desert Palace - it can be a very bitchy bit of game if you don't know what to expect so feel free to barrage me with questions or ask for spoiler free hints. (Though I think it's actually my favourite chunk of game because of how much fun Kuja is there. Problem, Zidane?)

It's weird - most of the popular FFIX tracks are the ones I'm rather 'meh' about. (I don't even LIKE 'You are not alone' though I appreciate the moment itself and the subtext that comes with it.)

*Deletes YET ANOTHER instance of spam*

Neh? Didn't ship'em in the first place, so no problem there. *blinks* *debates asking for spoiler* *decides against it*

Well, it's got some nice action going on, and that might have something to do with it. Though it may have been thematically better to use Over the Hill (FOR ADVENTURE!)

Don't worry--once things get moving, there'll probably be another instance of those "OH HAI INSTANT DISC REACTIONS LJ" entries.

Hasn't come up in game for me yet...oh sheebus, the time. Why am I awake? *stays awake just a little longer...*

DID SOMEBODY SAY SPAM?

Hehehehe don't worry, I was only joking about the obvious spoiler you already knew.

True, though some of the FFIX choices have really made me scratch my head. Rose of May as a battle theme when that theme already has two battle remixes as Protecting My Devotion and Sword of Doubt respectively? WTF?

YAY! Disc reactions!

You won't get 'You are not alone' for quite a while yet but when you do it will hit you HARD. Certainly one of my biggest video game overreactions.

Also this is very nice to listen to and gives me the warm fuzzies:

D'AWWWWWWW THIS IS FROM WHERE YOU JUST KNEW ZIDDY WAS INSTANTLY SMITTEN.

I'd say more but this has the effect of making me just sit there with the 'smilin' like a happy little fool' effect.

*rereads the above*

Apparently that came from the Department of Redundancy Department.

I have plenty of savefiles dedicated specifically to favourite scenes in FFIX. That FMV where Zidane goes to see Dagger in Lindblum is undoubtedly my favourite moment in Disc 1. So beautiful and all told without words.

I have played that damn third round of the Tetra Master contest so many times just to see the scene where THIS plays:

Those 40 seconds of FMV never fail to captivate me. I think Eiko's descent is probably my favourite of all the FFIX FMVs and I friggin' LOVE every last one of them to pieces.

(The final FMV of FFIX always makes me cry BTW. Whether it's just the visuals or audio, I'm bawling like a baby by the end.)

I think I know which one you're talking about~ and man, I'm gonna have to hunt down my memory card already, this is giving me the itch to play again--

GRAAAAAAH! I gotta finish this novel! Or at least make the finish line first! I cannot lose!

waaaaa y u do this to meh? XD

I really want to go back to FFIX even though I'm still on the first chapter of Type-0... :x (What? I go slowly and I like to try and translate what's going on! Plus Gintama and a ton of BL may have distracted me. Speaking of which I'm downloading what is hopefully a Romi Paku one...*slurp*)

Gintama is a black void...LIKE THE NEBULOUS ENTITY KNOWN AS TV TROPES, YOU WILL GET SUCKED IN!

If Gintama is a VOID…

Exdeath's seiyuu needs to make an appearance if he hasn't already!

Speaking of which they had Ultimecia's seiyuu appearing in the last couple of episodes. I couldn't stop laughing because not only was the episode hilarious anyway but my brain kept going "OH MI GAWD! Ultimecia's being a total bitch to Kuja again!"

I need to check out his anime news network page. (I haven't memorised the kanji for his name yet - though I can remember his surname since it's the same as Kuja's seiyuu.)

Atsuko Tanaka does such good seductive older women voices. Actually in Berserk she helps convince Sephiroth's seiyuu to sacrifice a whole bunch of his friends including Kuja and Jecht's seiyuus. (To make things even more ridiculous, Cloud's seiyuu is now playing the character Sephiroth's originally did in Berserk.)

Ishida seldom gets roles where his character gets respect - hell the BL series I just listened to him in (Okane ga nai!) he has to play an uke who essentially gets manhandled and molested by every other character in the series! (Fun fact: Kuja's seiyuu is the original VA for the uke in the BL dramas but Onion Knight's seiyuu is the VA for the uke in the OVA and games.)

…That is what they call a clustercuss. I've never watched Berserk (or read it for that matter) but I hear that there's a lot of Stuff Blowing Up and other assorted violence.

Ishida seems to get typecast as the Team Butt Monkey.
…THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN UNFORTUNATE PHRASING ON MY PART. I AIN'T CHANGING IT THOUGH. This sounds like some fun actually. XD

I am a fan of the manga but mainly because it's so beautifully drawn. (It actually had a major impact on my own style truth be told.) But yah, it's seriously violent and distressing - stuff ALWAYS gets worse. It's one of the most adult manga out there for a reason.

Hehehe. Well he does get his fair share of cool guy roles (he's been cast as a lot of anti-heroes, love interests and sinister bishonen) but because he's got a soft, higher voice than normal he often gets cast in 'uke' roles. Though in the industry he's pretty well respected - he even won the most popular male seiyuu in 2007 as well as 'Best Supporting Actor' in the first seiyuu awards.

OK, Zidane, Kuja, Prishe and CoD's seiyuus all won awards at the first one. Gilgamesh and Kain's seiyuus have also won awards since.

This is seriously cool stuff. Makes me wish that good voice acting was taken seriously around here.

Now granted we've come a long way from Resident Evil's TERRIBAD voice acting.

And this is without mentioning "Jill, the master of unlocking."

I MUST GET MY MITTS ON THIS. (Title: こゑこひ ~あなたの声に恋してる~) It's got the winners of the first awards performing dramas together and one of the tracks is Ishida and Paku. WHY MUST TWO OF MY FAVOURITE SEIYUU WHO VOICE TWO OF MY FAVOURITE FF CHARACTERS WORK TOGETHER SO OFTEN AND FORCE ME TO SQUEAL WHENEVER I COME ACROSS THEM?

I'M MAKIN' ROOM WOMAN! XD

And enter me wishing I could read Japanese. XD

Sometimes not understanding japanese helps. Such as that one BL drama where it was Ishida/Morikawa and the plot made even less sense the more you understood Japanese.

Actually I think Japan is one of those rare places where being in an adult or smutty piece won't scar your resume at all. Hell Morikawa is HERALDED for the amount of BL he does.

Speaking of which WHY DOES MEGAUPLOAD DECIDE TO CAPSIZE ON ME WHEN I'M ABOUT TO DL SOME DELICIOUS BL FEATURING THE TALENTS OF ISHIDA AND PAKU!? (They play seperate couples according to the audio wiki since they're both 'uke' voices. But I wanna hear them all the same since I'm really curious to hear uke!Paku!)

MEGAUPLOAD YOU SUCK!

Uke!Paku...? I don't think I would have thought it possible.

Whoops --- Ishida's a seme in one of the pairings and uke in another. (I know he can do both but he's just got such an uke voice that it's kind of odd to hear him outside that sort of role.) Also to make things more headscratching, not only is the guy playing uke to seme!Ishida then playing seme to Paku (interesting...) but he's also got a role in Gintama as Ishida's enemy of all things. But to make things more cracktastic, there was once a dream sequence event where those two hooked up and Ishida's character gave birth to a baby gorilla. Now I simply must hear this BL...

Paku's only going to get younger boy roles with her voice so it's understandable for her to play an uke.

I am so tempted to do my own versions of how these recording sessions turn out (I was also highly tempted to do one for Dissidia involving pisstakes of every single actor involved) because there are so many jokes that can be made.

I always find it hard accepting Ishida in any role that is somewhat masculine or badass since the first time I heard him he was voicing a pretty little fairy transvestite fishboy. I actually heard him in an anime where he was the 2nd manliest character there (despite wearing a pretty dress) and he was not only supposed to be equal to Morikawa's character in terms of strength but there was A LOT of implied Ishida/Sakurai in there... That really broke my brain. Ishida is the voice of pretty little princesses and sinister bishonen! WHY IS HE PLAYING A BUTCH HERO!?

It's Gintama. That sort of batshit happens on a daily basis.
