So I'm fasting…

Nrrgh. Rrlrgh.
Today, thanks to my impending scans, I have to fast. I can have water and clear soups.
I haven’t eaten solid food in about eight hours.
I am incredibly hungry. But I can’t have solids right now. Miso soup is just about the most involved thing I’m allowed to have right now—and we’re talking PLAIN miso soup. No onions, no scallions, no nothing. …I’ll admit it, the miso soup was pretty satisfying.
But I want meat.
And pasta.
Cheese.
Delicious cereals!
*looks wistfully at the fridge*
Well, I’ll be allowed to eat tomorrow after the scans are done.
*stomach growls*
Feed me…

Date: 2012-06-11 03:34 am (UTC)ALSO I SHOULD REALLY GO TO BED BUT I AM COMPLETING THIS FORM FOR AN FF COMM AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF TL;DR-ING ABOUT WHY I HEART FFIX SO MUCH.
"Tied for third I have Eiko Carol and Vivi Orunitia. When I first played the game I utterly adored both of them but for entirely different reasons. Eiko is so poorly written (really, I'm supposed to believe she's 6?) but I have to admit that she has such a wonderful spark about her - here's this little girl who has grown up in incredibly miserable circumstances and yet rather than let it defeat her, she takes control of her life and not only tries to be cheerful but also an assertive adult. What's more after Zidane she essentially becomes the back-up party leader and a lot of the time she's the one organizing things when he's not around and she does it effectively. Despite this she still has the vulnerability of a child and it's interesting seeing her conflict of being a little girl trying so hard to be a woman when what she needs is a chance to be a child again and be part of a family. She's also a brilliant parallel to several characters, one of the most fascinating in my opinion being Kuja in that both were born into a grim situation and denied a proper childhood (as well as being overdramatic brats) but unlike Kuja, Eiko was never truly alone: she was loved all her life and those around her constantly reminded her how valuable her existence is to them, something Kuja never had and the entire reason he lacks empathy. Also I find that Eiko is one of the most hilarious characters in the game - the misunderstanding with Mikoto never fails to have me sputtering with laughter."
AND NOW I START ON VIVI. :|

Date: 2012-06-11 04:29 pm (UTC)Oh after studying up on the ultimania I couldn't help but notice the genius of how so many of the characters echo or parallel one another. I could write an entire thesis on the subject but the strongest theme of them all is how the party and Kuja are all products of their environment and the only reason your main party isn't like Kuja is because they were given kindness at some point. Amarant is probably the closest due to being raised without love and having to fight to live but travelling with Zidane changes him and slowly makes him start to care about others. He's a clever bit of foreshadowing to show how Zidane will be able to help Kuja later on, since Amarant is a smaller scale bad guy who doesn't understand empathy. Whilst the Kuja, Vivi and Zidane parallels are the most effective, I have to admit that I'm very fond of how Eiko is the closest to Kuja in terms of personality but because she was brought up with everyone saying how she brought hope to their lives and how glad they are she exists, she's a decent person. She's also a parallel of Zidane at an earlier age due to both leaving home to find themselves, independently striking out despite being young and foolhardy and searching for companionship: in Zidane's case it's finding another Genome, in Eiko's it's finding other people. Oh wow I really could go on all day...
