Dear Landlord:



Because you've dragged your feet on the leak over my apartment, I've developed a case of what is either black mold or mildew on my ceiling. While I was willing to attack this with a can of Killz brand antimold/antimildew thingy on my own, the fact that the ceiling itself has developed a bulge in two places, and gives when poked in another, is something that is more in YOUR wheelhouse. HOWEVER. It's been almost half a year and you've done nothing. Which leads to this:


That's my bathroom wall. An extreme closeup albeit, but the wall. Specifically, one of the wall tiles. You see how the stuff that sticks it on has rotted? You know how my bath doesn't have a shower so it's impossible for anything to get there? Yannou, except for that wrapping-around bulging pouf of paint that clearly indicates the pattern of leakage from the unit over mine? Well, THE FUCKING TILES are falling off now.

That's right. The TILES ARE FALLING OFF BECAUSE OF THE LEAK YOU WON'T PINPOINT AND FIX.

Frankly, you're lucky anyone in this building pays rent, because this right here is some serious bull.

The building was actually recently in the spotlight for this sort of thing. Very little gets done when things brick up. Recently there was a mass plumbing backup that never got addressed. I spent an annoying amount of money that week on takeout, in order to avoid needing to do dishes. Several dumps of lye (yes, lye) cleared it up for me but there's still people with problem sinks three weeks later.

I'm ALMOST looking forward to seeing what went awry while I was at work today. I'm currently in transit hauling groceries.

Oh, my god. That's... wow. Seriously, that's freaking - wow. I sympathise, though. I had a similar problem at my workplace lately and it resulted in a flood of dubious-looking water... some of which got into an open power socket.

Landlords, right? D:

I would say that the fact that the only power socket being on near the ceiling is reassuring except that the leak is in the ceiling and, well, yeah.

I have no idea what I'm going to do about this, I mean if they give me shit about my housekeeping (really, you're worried about the dust on my desk when I have black mold on my ceiling and it gives when you poke it?) I'm just going to point out the recent news exposé and the fact that the entire building is not up to code. I'm not sure, but I THINK it's actually bad enough that no one here is technically obligated to pay rent—provided someone gets the cajones to check on the local law codes, we might have a case. o_o;
