Oh gods.

Day 16.

You got me started!

The pairings! There are so many! This game has made me ship so much het. HET! Me! HET! I’ve never done that! …well excepting Luke/Tear from Tales of the Abyss, but they make Cannot Spit It Out cute.

This game seems to ship everybody with everybody, but there are a few standouts that deserve shoutouts.

For a very long time, the pairing that stood out in front of the rest was Mateus/Ultimecia—also known as PalaMecia (see what I did there?). It started as knee-jerk minion shipping, but after a while of playing through the original story again and again, it just seemed to be…there. They’re rarely seen apart, and she’s the only one he interacts with that doesn’t wind up on the receiving end of some sort of snarky comment at one point or another. And Mateus is good with the snarky comments, too… (“You would compare me to that gibbering nihilist?”) Second, because he is what he is, we know he’d survive the world getting nuked by the off-balancing that Cosmos’s death produced. And yet he had a plan after watching his compatriots get wiped out—creating crystals suited for sustaining ‘bodies of the dark.’

He only had one guinea pig.

For the purposes of this argument, I posit that he already knew where that one was going: Mateus had chosen his queen.

…as with any fandom!ship, this WILD GUESSING on my part. But you have to admit it’s got a little bit of weight.

With the release of Duodecim, however, another rushed to the front of my awareness, ready to pwn all that stood before it with a solid punch and liberal amounts of snark.

Enter…LIGHTSHIPPING! WoL and Lightning seemed to be solidly there during the story mode of Prologus—about all they managed to pull off was snarking at one another, when they should have been more cohesive together—even the bad guys call them out on it. They were firmly an item in my head by the end of Prologus…

But in 012, where was it?!

…besides in that encounter line in Lightning’s story, which was so not innocent.

It wasn’t until the end of the war, when Team Canon fodder had been downed, that it finally returned—in a teaser-hint: that faint little smile Lightning gives him before she fades away.

Thanks to that moment, these two are now a Belligerent UST/Slap Slap Kiss couple in my head.

I honestly can’t think of a platonic pairing. Except Gabranth + Onion. I wrote it once on a challenge and it’s become a running gag. With chocolate. And cereal. And blackmail.

I really need to get back on that project.

Other pairings that I like:

Kujecht (Kuja/Jecht. YEAH IT’S CRACK. But it kinda works)

Kujerra (Kuja/Terra. The fluff will consume your brain!)

Any female summon/Firion. It’s hilarious.

Firion/Lightning. Roses everywhere.

Oh god, where do I start?

I suppose the beginning ain't a bad option. )

AAAAAAAAAAGH I DON'T DECIDE ON ONE THING WELL WHEN THERE'S SO MUCH FABULOUS!

When this was developed, there was one piece of DLC available—and if you hadn’t managed to grab it before the PSN was hacked and taken offline the way GlaDOS would be if Edgar and his chainsaw ever got to her, you didn’t have it.

I’m gonna take this to mean that this query refers to the originals.

HAVE A LIST! )

“So you offer your life in exchange for theirs?”

“Of course not. I offer yours.”

…Do I really need to say it? We all know I’ve got a pair of obvious favorites.

…well, I might. ‘Twould be a disservice to be so short with this entry. And so we have our picks, in a countdown, from the top!

SPEAK, BISHES! )

(Let me start by saying APPROPRIATE ITUNES IS APPROPRIATE)

I’ve got a tie here, actually. But I’m going on the one that’s been curled up in my mind sleeping for the last few days, because of its implications in the (presumed) canon.

WARNING! If you haven’t been doing the reports, then this first one contains major spoilers! Avoid this cut if you have NOT completed Prishe and Shantotto’s reports! …of course, if you haven’t done that and still want to spoil yourself rotten, feel free—it’s a free blogosphere, right?

My answer! SPOILER ALERT. )

The third week of NaNo kicks off today.  After reading my 'pep talk' email, getting a breakfast of bacon, buttered toast, pretzels and hummus (sounds like a college menu, doesn't it?) I'm getting ready to get started.

I've got a new computer.  A Lenovo, running Windows 7.  She runs quiet, has a satisfying keyboard, and is a powerhouse.

*celebrates*

Okay, now that that's out of my system I have to reboot.  Lots of updating that I have put off the restarting of the system.

I got into the Scrivener for Windows Beta.

I'm just looking at the tutorial right now.  After only a few minutes of looking at it, seeing how documents are set up in the software, I can see that this will be incredibly useful.  I mean, everything is smashed into one document, one wonderfully organized, sectioned off, neat document.  It rather reminds me of the word processor software that I used when I was little, the one that had templates for writing your own little short novels.  Needless to say this will make things much, much easier.

No more having to save things into seven and eight separate documents!

No more folders full of notes that I can't navigate!

No more having to have seven windows open just to work on one piece!

*flail*
railenthe: (what the?)

In my efforts to restore my music library to its former glory (read: get everything again so that I can actually use my Last.fm page again) I’ve had to give my Zen Microphoto life support. I’m afraid that this just might be the last time I can actually do that. Regularly, now, I have to use Goblin Tech Support to get it to run—that just means you bang on it in the right place until it operates.

In light of this, I decided I’d pull everything off of it and put it onto an external hard drive.

(Actually, it’s an internal connected with a power supply connected to the machine with a USB bridge.)

To make sure I don’t lose the better half of my library though, I’m going to have to make sure I set it onto this drive. It’ll take a while—going from one USB devise to another after all—but the majority of the stuff on it is rares, and since the storage is disk based, it’s all transferable.

Call me sentimental though—I don’t want to get rid of it. This little white thing was the first big purchase I made. First high-tech device. First exposure to the awesomeness of having hours upon hours of music in the back pocket of a denim skirt.

And, I will admit, first session of random, iPod-commercial-style dancing with headphones attached.

If I can salvage the hardware, I will be quite happy. If not...well, I think what I might do, is I might put it up in one of those little clear cases with a plaque with something clever written on it: The Groovy Results of A Hard Day’s Work, or something like that.

I’m a nerd, so what?

For once it is for something fun~!

I'm getting ready to catch the bus right now.  I'm going over to the nearest Gamestop store for an event.

It's a Pokémon event.  I'm going to be jumping in line to get a Jirachi!  It's a special event Pokémon that—well, to be truthful, unless you do it just right, most of the event Pokémon aren't too powerful in battle.  Good thing I've been playing this game for over ten years; I'm good at doing good raising on this kind of Pokémon.

Now, I must go.  Gotta sync my iPod, pack refreshments, and get ready to head out.  I had a good sized meal, but I need to pack as many drinks as I can reasonably carry.  Nothing says "You Lose" like an inopportune dry throat.
railenthe: (WTF?)
Recently I did an inbox clear of the e-mail account that I linked to this account to.  By which I mean I cleared EVERYTHING out of it.

It was up to about 2k messages, after all.  It was due.

Thanks to becoming active in my various groups again, though, in the last two days I've managed to pick up 700 notifications.

Perhaps I should just link it to the VOID.  Either way I need to clear it again before my computer starts chunking again.

But before I do that, it's time I went to sleep for a while.  Starting to crash out thanks to having four hours of sleep in the last 48.

Sleepy!

Serves me right.  It is almost two in the morning and I have been playing WoW for the last three hours.  I leveled my shaman up to forty-six, and trained away my profits on the ding.  I'm going to be selling a lot of stuff to make up for that, and grinding up to forty-seven after that.

After that I will get ready to crash.  I actually have to be up.

Last few days have been insane.  Went to Delmar and did lots of crap.  Bought a skirt, some music, a plushie ( I <3 the Moofia!) and a top.  Today I added more music to that.  Spent way more money than I planned on, but I still have enough money to make the rent, which means for now I am cool.  Also have enough drinks on hand so that I don't get bored with the selection.

It is time to get out of dodge.  Peace out.

Need to hurry up and upload pics from the con I went to onto my photobucket page.  Right now I don't feel like screwing around with the storage card though.

I need to hurry it up though.

I managed to net an epic Cid.

This is my Palm Treo.  I found it on Ebay for quite the bargain at $49 before shipping.  The cheapest that I've seen these for is about $109, and that was on Overstock.com.  I didn't have a manual, though...I grabbed that off of the 'net and read it later.  Of course the second half of the manual is irrelevant at the moment—the phone isn't activated yet.

But it's got a CAMERA!  (That's how the pic of my AA in DDR got posted)  It's got a lot of other cool crap, too:  Word/PowerPoint/Excel Mobile, legendary Palm organizational capability, and—get this—streaming radio capability.

railenthe: (Chibi Sora)

So I'm running around online right now for lack of anything better to do.  The other week, just looking around for obscure music—because my hardcopy alternatives have run out now that most of the stuff on my wishlist is out of print, I looked around for a site that offered mp3 files

(that wasn't iTunes)

so that I could get my mitts on this music at long last.  Sure, it won't be as high a recording quality as it would be if I went and found a hardcopy of the tracks, but some of these have turned into collector's items and are now hard to get.  People who have found the album are less than likely to let go of it for less than fifty dollars, so instead of running and looking for something that could be ultimately futile, I decided to just go for digital.

railenthe: (WTF?)
You know.  A high-speed connection is almost pointless when one's tech cannot handle the speed of the connection.  Seriously.
