You know, I could wax poetic about the curbstomp that was the defeat that goes here today, but instead of doing that, I shall provide a battle replay, and a mini-fic. I’d finally developed a strategy—after the defeats of Prishe, Laguna, Lightning and Yuna—but somewhere along the line something went wrong and I panicked.

…then everything went wrong.

In the space of a few moments I went from rage, to dis pear despair, and then looped right back to incoherent rage.

You know the moment: the moment when you realize you’re doomed, when the line from Dante’s Inferno comes to mind unbidden—“Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here…”

The Inferno, Regnum Dei [The Kingdom of God]

There may have been a chance. But there were too many mis-steps to recover from.

As you feel yourself being tossed about like a rag doll by the force of the insane Chaos’s strength, he adds insult to injury by throwing you with enough force that you land in a small, void-like dimension. The impact was forceful enough that you feel a crack—something is broken. This would be bad enough on its own, but the fiend follows you there.

And he is not yet finished with you.

You lift your head to see him standing there again, fangs dripping with blood—yours? Your comrades’? It is impossible to tell. All that you know is that you cannot stop fighting. Not now. Not with so much on the line.

You spit out a broken tooth and continue fighting, and despite the odds against you, you see progress. You may yet stop him—your fighting spirit returns to you, and you aim to strike true—

You don’t know when it happened. You cannot breathe. One of the blades that the god wielded when he remained cognizant of his senses has impaled you. You feel a lung deflate as his claw wraps around your neck.

The end is nigh.

Six more blades perforate you as the god, snarling, pulls back one of his arms to strike.

The world goes black before you feel his talons—the only mercy afforded you during this battle.

Well, if Feral Chaos didn’t frighten you before, after seeing this, he should.

Seriously, this has to be the most Nightmare Fuel in a finishing move since the introduction of Fatalities.  And if you aren’t working with a Last Chance, item, the odds are that you WILL NOT survive this.

…only one good thing came out of this round.

I FOUND OUT THAT THE REAL FERAL CHAOS IN 000 CAN BE BLOCKED.

…had I known this prior to this round, things would have gone FAR differently.

After realizing this, I went from numb shock to RAGE.  How much fucking SIMPLER WOULD IT HAVE BEEN IF I HAD ONLY REALIZED THAT, UNLIKE HIS MANIKIN, THE REAL FERAL CHAOS CAN BE BLOCKED AND PROPERLY COUNTERATTACKED AGAINST?  I could have won this fight so much more easily!  I immediately took a break to play something I could pwn at on the Nintendo DS…I plugged in a Harvest Moon title and farmed about 200 pink turnips.*

Learn from my death, comrades, and take this bastard straight back to the seventh circle of hell!

Epilogue:  Immediately after this round, I used this knowledge to defeat the bastard.  However I was in so much shock that I failed to save the replay.  I apologize for my fail.  The spam-tastic victory went unrecorded.

Lol, I've always been way too amused by the phrase 'tits up.'

…and now I immediately think of Sir Sugartits.

Considering that ONE OF THESE DAYS *violently shakes fist* I want to write a novel, it's a talent I've worked on. But it's so much fun to get into the heads of other people's pretties.

I'm looking at youuu~, Kain!

Kain: ...reprehensible.

I'm comfortable with my own characters (working on a comic book. By which I mean I have a cracktastic idea that I hope to one day publish) because I know them inside and out since I made them. With fanfiction I'm always intimidated by whether I'm doing the character justice or not and how the audience will react.

Also I worked on trying to write for the screen or animation so I'm not used to proper narrative yet. (When I used to write it I'd do so in a satirical fashion)

I think the fear is more the problem than anything else. Gotta try and get over it...

(Also Kuja is difficult because he's acting most of the time. We only ever see true!Kuja with Zidane because Ziddy is the only person he'll drop the act around due to trusting him/considering him an equal to some respect. I say all this and yet I've never properly attempted this before. Hmmm...)
