THE OBLIGATORY 'I'M NOT DEAD' POST

It's like 11 at night. I'm writing from my gaming rig, slightly stoned off ...a lot of things, but mostly cannabis.
There's been nothing much new to report except that my doctor got me on a new pain medication, one that seems to be working far better than the last one did.
Darling Prince, the cat, sits at my side with his head on my elbow. What an awkward place to be, kitten.
I'm setting up this machine without really knowing what I'm doing, since I'm coming from Win7. But I'm slowly getting it.
There's a few things to do right away that I can think of:
You want to hear something disturbing? That 'throat-closey' whistle I'd developed? I was getting that while taking heroic doses of Zyrtec.
I do not wanna think about what could happen to me if this gets worse.
Whewf...I got stories. So many stories. And if I was more awake I'd tell more of them. But my point is, I still have stories. I still have a life.
I don't have to stop writing.
Even if last year kicked my ass, I don't have to quit.
I'll get back into it. I have to bring the joy back into my life.
And I'm going to start by telling my stories again.

- find the damn silver,
- find the damn towels, and
- get Pestilence Couch mk. 2 outta here.

Watch out, world.

Date: 2021-02-05 04:48 pm (UTC)Hopefully Prince is not being one of those ultra discerning feline editors - my tortoiseshell nominated herself as my official editor and there isn't a document I've produced that hasn't been evaluated by her arse.
How big were these bastard bugs? Head lice sized or bigger? At any rate, let's hope they're well and truly gone. What a right pain.
Oops, I rambled.
Date: 2021-02-06 12:01 am (UTC)Yup, I'm still a Scrivener enby, but right now it's not on the computer I'm using. I plan on fixing that soon though. Right now I'm waiting for the other rig is free of pestilence. I need to see if I can actually have two installs. Currently my tools are FocusWriter and ZenWRiter. FocusWriter is free, but there are features on ZenWriter that sometimes make it more ideal for things. The ambient music, for one, that evolves in time with what you're putting down.
DP seems to just like being there in the process, but he WILL headbutt me, or the phone, or the computer, at any time he thinks there isn't enough attention being paid to him. As aggravating as it is sometimes, he has one of those faces where he'll do something and when you look at his face, you can't be mad. (What's the tortie's name? :D )
They're...bedbugs.
AGAIN.
They freaking followed me here out of my stuff, and now the couch is Pestilence Couch mk. 2, because I'd at the time quarantined myself to it to make sure they didn't get to other parts of the house. Fortunately, the couch itself is broken in three places (failed springs) and the easy part comes soon: getting it straight out of the house entirely. After that, it's a laundry sweep, a good vacuuming with the Shark, and getting the professionals in to FUCKING GAS those little fucks.

Date: 2021-02-06 05:11 pm (UTC)The tortoiseshell, who commonly goes by Iris (but being a cat has about five dozen nicknames), likes to sit on the keyboard constantly. Will make very discerning noises. She mews a bit but makes a very unique little 'prrrrrrrhpp' sort of sound most of the time.
Thank goodness the bastards didn't manage to get anywhere else. It's a shame you can't take a torch to the couch to be sure they won't return - would be effective but proooobably not very popular.
When I tell you I almost set that couch on fire...
Date: 2021-02-07 09:45 pm (UTC)I did almost set it on fire. There comes a point in bedbug infestations when, if it gets bad enough, you don't need a dog to be able to sniff them out--you can do it yourself. And one day I dropped a bottle of medicine and it rolled under, so I bent down to get it and
There it was, and I just kinda went "Okay, that stays down there" when I smelled it. Made me sick to my stomach. (the smell, not dropping the meds, which I did recover later.) I looked at my lighter for a good long time before I realized "bad freakin idea."
Ambient music helps me get things done. It's kind of like being in a game where there's always a BGM going on--it helps me get into it and focus. I'm fond of the Minecraft soundtrack for when the program I'm using doesn't have its own stuff (like OmmWriter and ZenWriter do). OmmWriter and Zenwriter also provide 'typing noise' feedback, which helps me to focus too; I suspect those help me so much because I actually learned how to type on a typewriter before I started learning on a computer.
OMG 'prrp' noises. Turtle Shell does those. She doesn't quite 'meow' usually, it's noises that we describe as what "???" or "!?!" sound like. I'm beginning to think it's a Tortie thing!
AND ANOTHER THING
Date: 2021-02-06 12:03 am (UTC)Also, remind me to make some new icons. I think this one is eight years old or something, and while I love it, I need more than just three in my stable.
