100 Things #33: Nostradormouse

There were a few things in my Nook that were pre-loaded when I bought it—Nostradormouse, a story targeted ostensibly to children, was one of them (Or it might not have been. My memory is fuzzy). For some reason, I could not access the book on my first device, but when I grabbed my Nook Tablet, I read it.

And fast.

Nostradormouse begins with the birth of a mouse with prophetic abilities, who goes on a pilgrimage of sorts. As he travels, the animals are given names (not as in “You are a possum, and you are a beaver”). As he names his ‘people’ the animals go from being a collective without any differentiation to individuals.

The story has gentle underthreads of Norse mythology, something you rarely see outside of video games nowadays.

Got a Nook? I’ll lend it if you ask! See, me going much further than I have here will result in me gushing over it and spoiling the whole thing.

Forced hiatus.

If you read my dA you already know this, so I'm going to keep it short here:

My computer's lost.

As in gone.

As in I probably won't get it back even though it isn't paid off yet.

So barring a miracle from high—which I believe highly unlikely given the fact that this last month the Cosmic Wheel has run me over and then backed up a couple of times—I don't have a computer.

So I've no choice but to vanish for a while.

I am incredibly depressed right now.

If you really want the worst of the details, my dA has them.  I just can't type it all again.  Name's the same...I'll link these two accounts whenever I have a computer again.

For now, I'll just hit the background layer for a time.

I just realized.

I clicked a crack-pairing link from tvtropes.org, and now am reading something I never thought I would.

Bible slash.

Yes.

Bible slash.

And enjoying it.

Bible slash.

What is this I don't—

YES.

Yeow! Holy Crap, I'm still a little hyped from the concert

So last night there was this concert in town, this artist named Boney James (Dude, if you don't already know who he is then I think that it is a good idea to hit Last.fm right about now).  It marks the first time that I've gotten to actually see him live and in person.  I've heard him live before, on special radio broadcasts on the internet and a few radio shows that we don't get in this area anymore on account of losing our local smooth jazz station.  But this was the first time that I got to see the man LIVE.
I know I'm fangirling but SQUEE! )

The Fallen Reign

In an unexpected turn, my newest obsession, the Reign of Bohemians, is closing down. The news struck me with the force of a physical blow, and I simply stared at the monitor in shock for about five solid minutes before it totally registered.

Dimly, I backed up the pieces that I'd posted to my portfolio onto a Micro SD card. Our kingdom, fallen, I think to myself as I watch the new data folder fill with my written work and wonder just what will happen to the group. The chemistry that had built was amazing, and I do not know if it can be replicated anywhere else.

I can only hope.
