If you try to skewer a 24-hour buttermilk-marinated fried chicken breast while it is cooking, it will make the grease explode.

If you turn on the hot water FIRST after your water has been shut off for more than three hours, you WILL knock something loose. Start with the cold tap first.

Stay out of the Fel Reaver's range. You cannot outrun it.

Keep cast-iron skillets on low when you're frying chicken. See above for the consequences.

Remember: You break it, you tank it. Oh god, do you tank it.

To Do:

Finish long-standing fic project:  Organization Therapy.

Grocery Shopping…because I’m sick of soup.

Original writing:  Enoch drabbles—have the first part finished by 2-November.  5/8.

Related:  find betas for the Enoch drabbles and actually see if I’ve got something.

Check to see if Spring schedules for college are released yet.  (Probably not, but it pays to keep abreast.)

Work estimates of November/December workload.  The slow season sucks.

There’s more, but it’s like twelve in the morning, and I can’t think of it.  I’ll probably wind up adding to this.

railenthe: (Tired)

So, it’s the second day in this place.  I’ve got power now, and now that I have power, I have placed a few things into my refrigerator.  Funny story, apparently it was in fact connected, but there was a switch in the building that hadn’t been activated, so the power just wasn’t getting to my unit.

More junk. XD )

railenthe: (Pirate!)

I’m sitting in the middle of my floor right now as I write this.  It’s actually rather comfortable.  The ‘you’re stuck with  heater’ season is still going right now so the heat keeps the floor a nice livable temperature.  I don’t really need to wear house shoes or socks, the floor is fine.

The floor is...floor-like. )

The other day I decided to get up and treat myself to something shiny.  I don't know what that will be just yet, but I think I've earned it.  I haven't really treated myself to anything really shiny since my birthday.  (Though I did manage to complete my DDR collection just recently for the PS2; that was more of a quest than anything~  Next stop, the Xbox stuff!)

Considering making that 'something shiny' a trip to a club.  I've been wanting to get out and get wild lately a lot.  You know how it is, just to get out there and hit the dance floor and show off for a while.  Call me crazy, but I'd kind of like to get crazy on a floor where they're playing some disco.

…I might be the only one I know that doesn't hate disco.  xD

Aside from the fact that I just had a steak with some vegetable lasagna, I've not done anything interesting.  Unless you count the fact that I am about thirty bucks over budget thsi month.  Haven't been paying attention to where I'm eating lately, and it turns out that that is where it's been going, after all.  I should pay more attention to what I eat when the weekend hits.

Actually I should pay  more attention to what I eat, anyway.  I'd like to keep in decent shape.

The other day, we went to a different arcade, and *shock amazement* the DDR machine works well.  Not only does it work well, but check this out: it's got memory card slots.

That's right--it's a real machine, and not a third party retool.  o.o!

I also got about three steps from a double A ranking on "A Stupid Barber," but I wasn't carrying a camera with me, so...didn't happen, right?  ROFL.

What else is there?  Oh, yeah.  Ever seen a soda explode without warning?  Like, it's just sitting there, waiting for someone to grab it off of the edge of the table and then BANG!
Yeah, the aftermath of those aren't fun to clean up.   Yay work.
railenthe: (WTF?)

So the other day I was told that I was officially on only rooms again-that means, no more murder!shift, apparently. As I prepared to do the requisite self-training to get used to doing the job again-clutter up a room and see how fast I can fix it-I was of the thought that things will seem a little more difficult at first, followed by an almost silly easiness that I actually would welcome, even if it meant that I wouldn’t have any more thirty hour weeks-hells, I wouldn’t mind just having more consistent twenty-hour weeks.
