I’ll admit it right now: I am having a love affair with fountain pens now.

Since getting one for Christmas/Solstice, I’ve been enamored once again of writing in longhand. I might post samples of my handwriting later.

It’s so smooth. And pretty. And even makes my printing look classy.

I’ll have to make pictures.

I want more now.

I will probably have to use one of my refills today. I’ve filled a notebook with concepts and drafts.

I’ve inadvertently stumbled on a rather effective fix for writer’s block.

The other day, I got called off of work.  It had just been the status quo for the week—the fourth time that week, so I hadn’t worked a day that week yet.  As such I found myself on the bus going the opposite way than the usual for nine-thirty in the morning.  I had headphones on so that I could enjoy the soundtrack to FF Dissidia,  but they weren’t too high…seeing as I tend to die loudly.  Why don’t the computer-controlled opponents die so loudly?

Wait, now I know: because I suck at fighting ‘Vicious’-level opponents.  Back to the bus.

The guy was pathetic, seriously… )

Well, I threw everything I had at that skillet from a while back.  That burned-on ravioli dough just wouldn't come off of the skillet without a fight.  So I gave it a fight.  And the dough came up!  Hooray!  All it took was a sponge full of oxy-boosters and a bit of vinegar!

…So did the enamel.

On drying for fifteen minutes, after I'd taken the drying towel to it, rust was rising on the bare surface of the pan, looking like an angry orange lichen.  It's a cheap skillet; if the enamel comes off of it, then it is not good to use at all.  It leaves you open to all sorts of untasty (and unhealthy) additives.

So it was.  One of my more favored skillets has had to go down the trash chute, the first casualty of my cookware to date.

Recently I have been doing a lot of things regarding getting spammed by muses. Some of it has been giving people weird ideas, some of it has been giving myself weird ideas, and others have nothing to do with writing whatsoever.

This latter case is the one that's bugging me right now. I've got a muse that wants me to do choreography. And may the gods strike me down if I don't actually plan on doing it soon too. It's all planed out, too. The outfit, the hair, the accessories. Even down to the specific moment of every move, and it's going to haunt me until I do it. …I think I might be slightly possessed or something XD

I'd elaborate more but I need food, so later, folks.

This entry is about fifteen percent rant and the rest is update. XD Just so you are warned fairly.

I got to get some time online on one of the non-designated days today. Turned out that the dishes that should have been washed had not been washed, so I volunteered for some time on the computer. I think I have a strategy for one of these. I will bank my bribed online time, and use it for a day to work on the ::dramatic pause:: CROSSOVER FICCY OF DOOM! FUAHAHAHAHAH! …Ahem. Right.

Anyway, I did some downloading spam today. Got some music that makes muses go flailing about. That is the idea, anyway.

And on a technical side – I’m running out of disk space on meh comp! Aah! I think I have about 500 mb remaining.

…Yeah. AAH!

In my defense I have a puny 6 gig hard disk. Go me.

To end this spam-tastic update, I have a piece of advice for all my readers who also happen to write: Listening to Sting while writing angst = dangerous. Listening to Sola Sistim by Underworld while writing angst = haven’t tried that one. Although it came up in smut. @.@

Hi, not much to say today really. Just that there are new restrictions to my online time and activities. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Only three hours on said days. Yeesh. Oh, and I'm also restricted even if I'm not online. So working on projects (i.e., massive ficcy) is also limited. ><

But there are good updates too:

  • I have Limewire on my computer.
  • I have a CD-RW drive waiting to install.
  • I have sound again (Old news but still good news)

So I guess I'll just have to make three hours last as long as possible. Whoo.

Well, I got booted off my comp last night early. That left me with little to do. Plotting doesn’t take as much time as it used to…ehehehe. So I had to do something now that I was done plotting, and so I decided to listen to music. But I was tired of my headphones getting all glitchy if I decided to move my head a bit differently than usual, so something had to be done. The little direct-feed from my old speakers wasn’t cutting it either. Computer speakers are usually better when they have a power feed going into them, and since I didn’t have that…subpar sound. Whee.

So something had to be done. I got bored. Very bored. When you get bored, weird ideas tend to pop up. So I got one of said weird ideas. I have this weird speaker-wire thingy: it’s got the left and right audio thingies for speakers, but the other end looks like a standard headphone plug. Something that would fit into the back of a computer…or a CD player’s headphone jack.

So I had to try it.

I couldn’t see what I was doing—so I had to go off of feel, plugging the thing into the back of the television and guessing that one of them was an audio in-feed. (Yes, it is one of those ancient machines with everything in the back still. XD) After finding one of the blasted things, I put the television’s tuner to the AV-in setting, and turned on the CD player.

Holy crap, I have CD music going through my little walkman CD player.

This morning, I tried it with the computer feeds, and voila, I’ve got decent sound (it IS a puny television after all) from my computer going through the TV.

Am I colossal dork for this? Yes.

Do I care? No. After all, I’ve got sound again. So YAY!

Edit: As big of a dork as I am, I don't know what happened with that formatting. Ehehehe. ^^; I have yet to take any classes in html, and so this stuff is beyond me.

I was just working on getting my computer to shut down properly when something told me to check the device manager and see if something came up differently. Maybe something was having conflicts and that was why the slow seed rate for my torrent thingy.

I don’t know where it came from, but something told me to check out what was listed in my audio device…when I decided to try the same thing that hadn’t worked properly before, and checked the ‘update driver’ thingy.

And there was a result.

Just for the hell of it, I decided to install it and see what happened.

AND IT WORKED.

I have SOUND on my computer again!

OMG Yay!

OK. So I just got myself a BitTorrent client and found two of the video game soundtracks that I have been hunting for somewhere around—holy crap, about eight years now. Sure, it’s unofficial, but I can’t be picky and unemployed. That would just be ridiculous. So I’m setting up to download these—actually in the process now, the connection slowed down since one of the seeds timed out.

I just heard, as well, that there is a CD-RW drive on the back of my dad’s truck at work. Lucky as I am, he’s a connection to my technology fixes. So I might be getting a CD-RW drive if I managed to pounce on it quickly enough.

He’s not much on the techno-savvy, but even if it isn’t what I need, it’s still cause for a reaction of ‘omg yay’ since I will soon have access to the music that I was hunting down for so long. Ah, the music that my muses first began working on fic to…it’s sounding good.

Well, figuratively. I still need a soundcard driver. Or a new soundcard.

But I might have both soon, so…huzzah?
